Hey guys! So this month I am introducing a new series to the blog… monthly favs!! So many bloggers share their monthly favorites and they are always my favorite posts to read, so I decided to join in on the fun! Each month I’ll share my favorite TV show, book, food/ drink, outfit/ accessory/ trend, song, beauty related item, and blog post. I’ll also add my favorite quote at the top of each post 🙂 Read on for October’s monthly favorites!
Stranger Things & Stranger Things 2
Seriously, if you haven’t watched Stranger Things, what are you doing?! If you’re as obsessed with 80’s horror as I am, you will love this show. It’s the perfect mix of high school drama, teenage love story, mystery and suspense… all with a super cool retro feel. The soundtrack is one of the best parts. Who else knows every single hit 80’s song by heart? I haven’t finished the second season yet, but the first one definitely left me wanting more! I’m so excited to get back to the TV and binge watch the rest of the second season! It has a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, so you know it has to be good 😉 . Here is how it’s explained online: This thrilling Netflix original drama stars Golden Globe-winning actress Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, who lives in a small Indiana town in 1983 — inspired by a time when tales of science fiction captivated audiences. When Joyce’s 12-year-old son, Will, goes missing, she launches a terrifying investigation into his disappearance with local authorities. As they search for answers, they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, unnerving supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl. Now, go plop yourself down on the couch and get to watchin’!
Emma In The Night by Wendy Walker
I actually just started this book, so I can’t say too much about it just yet. But, it’s been good so far! It was one of the top lists on Book of the Month Club for the month of September. I really love the idea of Book of the Month Club but I’m not a huge reader so I typically log into their websi
te just for recommendations and to see what’s new and note worthy. Anyway, this book is about a couple of teenage sisters who disappear. Three years later, only one sister reappears and tries to explain what had happened, but no one believes her. But her story unravels the truths of her family and her psychiatrist delves into the mysteries of her family.
Here is the synopsis: One night three years ago, the Tanner sisters disappeared: fifteen-year-old Cass and seventeen-year-old Emma. Three years later, Cass returns, without her sister Emma. Her story is one of kidnapping and betrayal, of a mysterious island where the two were held. But to forensic psychiatrist Dr. Abby Winter, something doesn’t add up. Looking deep within this dysfunctional family, Dr. Winter uncovers a life where boundaries were violated and a narcissistic parent held sway. And where one sister’s return might just be the beginning of the crime.
This book is known to keep you on your toes as well as keep you up late reading… I can’t wait to get more into it!
Olly’s SLIM protein shake
This is kind of random, but I seriously have been loving this shake this month. I drink it for at least one meal a day, sometimes two. I feel
good knowing it’s packed with vitamins and minerals from actual fruits and veggies (I absolutely love that I can read every single ingredient… except really wish it wasn’t made with stevia). The flavor is really good too. I get the maple flavor and it honestly tastes like maple oatmeal so it is really yummy in the morning for breakfast. I also love how fast and easy it is to take with me on the go to work or school. I just read a study a few weeks ago saying that women who had more protein in their diet tended to weigh less, think about food less, and have a higher metabolism so I have been really into this shake lately lol. Don’t take my word for it though, go try it for yourself!
I get mine at Target for about $30 I think, which is pretty fair considering it’s replacing 15 meals.
One of my favorite trends this fall is palazzo pants. They are so flattering and comfy! I love wearing them with a heeled bootie, mule, or pair of pumps. And, the tops you can pair them with are limitless! For example, they look great with a casual tee and denim jacket or can look a bit more polished with a fitted top or lace blouse (to add some texture). They can be paired with a long sleeve turtle neck or a knit. They add the perfect amount of flare to a look while still being work appropriate. They also look great when they’re
Also this outfit because Halloween, duh 😉 I hope you all had a super fun Halloween! I always love passing out candy and seeing the neighborhood kids dressed up. But this year there seemed to be a lot less people trick-or-treating. I can’t wait to have a little kid of my own to trick-or-treat with one day!!
Layla by Eric Clapton
This song is such a great song. I had forgotten about it until I was babysitting a couple of kids so their parents could go to an Eric Clapton concert. I knew the artist sounded familiar, so I did a quick search on Spotify and realized he sings some of my favorite songs. I am literally SO bad at remembering artists’ names and who sings what song haha! Unless it’s a Fleetwood Mac or Eagles song, I probably can’t name it but will know every single word. Needless to say, this song has been on repeat every time I’m in the car! It’s such a classic rock song and seriously speaks to the soul!! I love songs like this, especially during the cooler months. Nothing beats classic rock on a rainy day. Not to mention, Eric Clapton’s voice is pure gold, even live. Nothing beats true talent like that!
L’oreal True Match Powder Foundation
This stuff is SO good and it’s price makes it that much better. I used to always get a high end powder
foundation, but I am so glad I found this one because it saves me so much money and for the most part, wears the exact same way. It is not chalky at all and has really great coverage without being heavy. I love that it comes in warm, cool, and neutral shades too because make up is typically way too pink for my skin tone (especially cheaper make up). Finding the right shade is super easy because it spells out the shade right on the front of the packaging. I guess that’s why they call it true match lol!
Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins (a Starbucks Dupe)
If you haven’t seen my post sharing the recipe for these muffins yet… go read it right now! They are so delicious and easy to make. If you like the pumpkin muffins from Starbucks, you’ll fall in love with these! They taste identical. They’re great for an on-the-go breakfast in the morning and they make a delicious gift! Yum.
Just look at them! Aren’t they so pretty? My mouth is watering. I have to make these again this year!
