Hey guys! Happy Tuesday. It’s been pretty long since I’ve hopped on to write out a post, I have been SO busy with school starting again. But, with that said, I am so happy to be back. Today I am sharing my dream closet decor with you. I had so much fun online shopping for things to put in my “closet”, I hope you love it all! I can not wait to have a house of my own to decorate one day!! I don’t think there is one girl out there that hasn’t dreamt up a beautiful walk in closet to keep all of her clothes and accessories in, right?! With lovely cushioned chairs, fuzzy blankets, and cozy rugs… getting dressed in the morning would definitely be my favorite part of the day! And, of course, you can’t forget about a beautiful shining light fixture (check out more lighting here) really bring the entire room (a’hem, closet) together. Check out the chandelier above and tell me you hate it, I dare you.
But besides just sharing what I’d fill my dream closet with, I figured I’d share some of my closet organization tips too. Because you can’t have a messy, unorganized dream closet.
Tip #1: Line your drawers with shoe boxes or other dividers. This tip is definitely a must. Once I organized my drawers with dividers, my life changed forever. My underwear drawer, especially, was always a mess. It’s hard to keep your panties from hiding under your bras or being pushed to the back of the drawer. But, after adding plastic dividers to my drawers, I never encountered those issues again and my drawer keeps neat and tidy. Having sections in your drawers meant for the items in them seems like a no brainer and it definitely needs more attention! I use this tip in my sock drawer, too. It keeps my socks separated from my stockings, mittens, etc. It works great for any drawer that contains multiple types of smaller items.
Tip #2: Stack t-shirts, shorts, pajamas, etc., sideways in your drawers. You probably stack your clothes in your drawer on top of each other after you fold them, right? And it’s always a pain to search through your drawers without making a mess of your folded clothes? Well, I have the perfect solution for you… stack your clothes sideways! Instead of laying them down flat, one on top of the other, lay them upright and you’ll be able to see every piece of clothing you have in your drawer. And, taking an item out will be easier than ever. It’s a bit hard to explain, check out exactly what I mean here.
Tip #3: Take full advantage of a hanging shoe rack. Shoe racks take up valuable closet space, but hanging shoe racks don’t take up any! Hang one on the back of your closet door or even on a wall in your closet, wallah, all your shoes will be off the ground and out of the way! Plus, it makes it easier than ever to see all of your shoes in just a glance.
Tip #4: Hang clothes with rhyme or reason. If you struggle to find what you’re looking to wear when getting dressed in the morning, this tip is for you. You need a system to your hanging clothes! It doesn’t have to be complicated to work well, either. I simply hang all of my dresses at the end of my closet, then comes longer coats or sweaters/ cardigans. Next, I hang my nicer tops. Then, t-shirts and tanks, then finally jeans. On my bottom rack, I keep shorter jackets, like leather and jean jackets. I also keep long sleeves and work tops down below. Knowing where everything is hanging helps me big time when I am getting ready to leave the house. It definitely helps cut down some of the time it takes getting ready in the morning!
Tip #5: Get a hanging laundry bag. Similar to the hanging shoe rack, a hanging laundry bag saves so much space. Again, hang it on the back of the closet door, on the wall, or even on a hanger on your clothes rack! It keeps the room from looking cluttered by keeping things off of the floor but still gets the job done. When it’s full, simply unhook it and bring your laundry to the wash… it’s that simple!
