Well, there is definitely nothing black and white about the holidays (red & green… gold & silver… that’s more like it) however, this outfit is perfectly suited being just that… black and white. Okay, maybe some grey and a touch of silver, but you get the point. This classic look is the epitome of winter fashion and in my opinion, is the perfect get up for any type of holiday event.
There is something so retro and so nostalgic about a newsboy hat, right? Even though I wasn’t around when these hats made their first debut, almost every old film shows a man with one atop his head. It’s like a set of pearl earrings… some things carry a certain characteristic that bring liveliness to any look. Just picture this outfit without the hat and it’s a totally different look all together. Get what I mean? I love my hat. I especially love it because it was under $13. It’s great quality too, it even keeps its shape and I find it to be so flattering.
See those nude pumps up there? Yep, that’s another classic piece of fashion. A good pair of nude pumps does more than just lengthen your leg. They speak volumes about you, they tell a story: you’re feminine, classic, fashionable, and you know how to amplify a look without overdoing it. If you need one pair of new shoes, make it a pair of nude pumps.
Now, enough with the fashion talk. Let’s get back to the holidays. Like I mentioned before, there isn’t much about the holidays that is black and white because black and white (for the most part… excluding this outfit of course) is, well, boring. Holidays are all about color, sparkle, and lots of fun! Christmas time is, like most people, my favorite time of the year. With all of the lights, decorations, yummy food, and family time my heart is filled with love and joy! There are always a few things that are must-dos when it comes to the last month of the year. So, I want to share with you my Christmas bucket list:
- Build and decorate a gingerbread house
Bake and decorate cookies
- Wear an ugly Christmas sweater
- Go to see Christmas lights with Shaun
- See the Nutcracker
- Go ice skating
- Watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, A Christmas without Santa, and any other Christmas movie from my childhood.
- Bake Christmas treats for Shaun’s station (Shaun says it’s too soon but I’ll leave this on the list regardless)
- Buy a doggie Christmas sweater for Molls
- Have peppermint hot chocolate
- Have spiked egg nog for the first time (and lots of regular nog too)
- Wear matching PJs with my family on Christmas Eve
- Fill Shaun’s stocking
Rock out to Christmas music in the car
There are so many fun things you can do during the holidays, I probably could create a list ten feet long! One of my all time favorite things to do during the holidays is go to Disneyland and see all of the decorations and festive treats but sadly this year my pass expired and I didn’t renew so I didn’t include that on my list. Fingers crossed next year will be different!
Now that I have shared some of my favorite things to do during the holidays, let me know what you love to do down in the comments! Plus, let me know if you’re totally into the newsboy cap trend… do you have a favorite way to wear it? What do you pair it with? I’d love ideas! Thanks for stopping by & I’ll talk to you in my next post.
